The Grevillea Study Group is one of over 20 such Groups whose aims are to further knowledge about the cultivation, propagation and conservation of specific Australian plants. This group has been particularly active over the past decade and includes among its members some of the most knowledgeable people on the botany, ecology and cultivation of Grevilleas. Two of its members, Peter Olde (the Group leader) and Neil Marriott are responsible for the superb three-volume "Grevillea Book" which contains details of all species (including photographs, diagrams, distribution information) as well as an account of the history of discovery and cultivation of the genus and information on propagation and cultivation. Peter and Neil have discovered several new species as well as re-discovering several which were believed to have become extinct.

Members of the Group are mainly keen amateurs with no formal horticultural or botanical knowledge, although a number of professionals in those fields also participate. As in all study groups, the members' work is mainly carried out in their own homes and gardens and in their own spare time. The members of the group have introduced many species into cultivation and established living collections at several locations.

The group maintains an extensive Seed Bank and seed is available to members free or at a nominal cost.

Study Group Newsletters

The Group produces three informative newsletters each year documenting reports from members into cultivation issues in various climatic zones, propagation methods, natural occurrences of different species and information on Group meetings and excursions.
